At Noon today, I was indoors riding our recumbent exercise bike and watching the Tour de France - a great combination - I was inspired to peddle faster. I was totally awed by Lance's last move up La Plagne but what was really impressive was his cadence. It looked like he was peddling between 85 and 90 rpm's which is unbelievable on a grade that steep. So to verify his rpm's, I matched his cadence while riding the recumbent and sure enough his cadence was 89. That was so cool - Lance and I were perfectly synchronized. I felt like I was riding up the mountain with him.

We had a really good South African red wine with dinner - 1996 Rust En Vrede Estate Wine - a very yummy red. Lots of good barnyard flavors  with a strong body to carry it all through. We polished off two bottles. I just love a good barnyard wine.

This is an e-mail from my buddy John regarding our plans tonight for dinner at Jens. (John lives in Seattle but is up here often doing consulting work with GCI):

Outstanding! I am always looking to expand my appreciation for strip malldinning! If we're lucky and the sun comes out we could get outside seating in one of the parking lot stalls that they rope off! Nothing like having a fine wine decanted right next to one of those Alaska "Big Guy" trucks!

Cheers!

Ah - an elitist after my own heart!
