Death To Stupid Products Cash crunch puts media format on hold. DataPlay, a start-up that developed a secure new media format it expected would replace the CD, shuts down at least temporarily as it looks for new funding. [CNET News.com]
Yaaaaaaaaaaaay! Sorry, I don't have much to say about this, but I'm always glad to see dumb products get rejected in a free market. Survival of the fittest, baby. I gave a big rousing cheer when LiquidAudio tanked, too. 11:15:13 PM
Putting Fair Use On A Solid Footing Tech giants back Fair Use bills. Chipzilla blesses Boucher [The Register]
Well, this is something I can get behind. I'm no legal scholar, so I'll wait for smarter people than me to weigh in with opinions. From the The Register article: "Lofgren's proposed 'Digital Choice And Freedom Act Of 2002' will ensure that consumers will be able to make copies, sell or reuse digital media they own; prohibits non-negotiable shrink wrap licenses and decriminalizes non-infringing circumvention devices."
Good deal. All of these things were legal just a few years ago. 10:39:20 PM
