Liberty Fumble InfoWorld: AOLTW enforces patents with Liberty single sign-on. [Hack the Planet]
How did they let this happen? "From the beginning, founding members of the project have vowed to deliver a completely open and royalty-free technology..." This is potentially disasterous. If they're going to beat Microsoft to the punch on federated single sign-on, they are going to have to execute perfectly. They can't go shooting themselves in the foot like this.
By the way, we can thank the Free Software and Open Source communities for increased awareness of the problems patents cause. Before, patent conflicts would be settled in a smoky backroom. Now they get talked about in a public forum. 2:56:51 PM
