Yahoo to give home page a makeover. After holding on to the same basic framework for seven years, the Web portal is hoping to court advertisers with a redesign, according to sources.

A good article showing the different forces at Yahoo! Davd Filo and the 'original crowd' seem to expouse the original ethos of Yahoo (simple and fast) whereas market pressue and Semmel are forcing them to add more interactive ads etc. Only Google seems smart enough to make money and not aggrevate it's users. Google understands the web. Perhaps Yahoo! should hire a few more PhDs? [CNET News.com]
