Give Us a Fanblog
Frank Heath is the owner of Cat's Cradle, the legendary Chapel Hill club, and now he's involved with a new UNC sports site called Tar Heel Daily. The site looks good, and for some of us it's hard to imagine a surfeit of Carolina hoops. But how can Tar Heel Daily differentiate itself from established sites like Inside Carolina? IC already has a critical mass of people on its message boards, a self-reinforcing attribute for a fan site. One thing Tar Heel Daily might consider is a weblog, or several weblogs, and/or a community weblog a la Metafilter. Some of the best weblogs involve significant domain expertise. Especially from November thru March, Carolina fans make up a huge community of obsessed and knowledgable people. It's natural blog territory.
