CONVICTED: Benny Sapp, University of Iowa
DES MOINES, Iowa -- Des Moines Register reports University of Iowa cornerback Benny Sapp has pleaded guilty to public intoxication, Johnson County court records showed Tuesday. Sapp entered the guilty plea to the simple misdemeanor on Sunday and was fined $100 by Johnson County Magistrate Marsha Bergan, court records show. Sapp still must face charges of interference with official acts and disorderly conduct stemming from his arrest early Sunday morning following a pushing incident with a woman in downtown Iowa City.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Lincoln Star Journal reports Nebraska lineman Tamotu "Junior" Tagoa'i has received two citations for misdemeanor assault and one citation for vandalism, Lincoln police said.

ARRESTED: Robert Desmond Fradd, jockey
HONG KONG -- Associated Press reports South African jockey Robert Desmond Fradd has been charged with alleged race-fixing. Fradd, 37, faces one count of cheating at gambling after he allegedly won money from a race on Jan. 16 by preventing his horse, Winning Dragon, from giving its best performance, the Independent Commission Against Corruption said in a statement.

LIBEL TRIAL: Tom Penders, NCAA basketball coach
AUSTIN, Texas -- Associated Press reports former Texas coach Tom Penders is in court this week to defend himself against a former assistant's accusations of libel and slander. Former UT assistant Eddie Oran sued Penders in 2000, contending the coach defamed him in the aftermath of the release of a player's grades to a local radio station.
