AIDS Day 2002
Today is AIDS Day 2002, a day of worldwide awareness and education. This disease which affects millions of people worldwide, knows no national boundaries, no language barriers, no political philosophies, no gender and no age limit. The first step to controlling the spread, is education. Even if you are not included in the "high risk" demographics, it does not hurt to learn all you can. Today, I thought about those people who been affected, either directly with the disease or even those family and friends who know someone affected. How, so very suddenly "life" as we know it can change. How our views of what is "important" and what "is not" can be turned upside down. So stop...learn, hear, think and feel. How can you "hate" something that you do not understand? Ponder what is important in your life. Compassion does not cost much, but is a most valuable commodity.
Today's Quote:
Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood. -Marie Curie
