Light and Shadow
Light and shadow. Two opposites that reflect upon one another. At this time of year, the differences are quite apparent when the sun is low in the sky. The shadows stretch in ways not known in the summertime. They linger longer than usual and cast their voices outward always outreaching. One is not better than the other, they are a matched set, the dark to the light, the yin to the yang and the absence to the present. Seemingly, playing in rhythm, neither wishing to outdo the other. In perfect harmony and syncopation. Beginning where the other ends and then...trading places. Can there be one without the other? How would you know about one without the other? Perhaps they are a symbol of what our life should be, a "balance" not to be overweighted on either end.
Today's Quote:
The shadow of a difference falling between note and note, a hair's breadth defining them.-Denise Levertov
