In The Heart

I have just finished reading an email from a dear friend who has related a story of dismal feelings this holiday season. I suppose her story is not all that uncommon, for we always hear about the hoards of people that become distressed and depressed during this time of the year. Yet, I wonder about how that process occurs. Certainly we don't go to sleep one night, cheerful and happy, only to wake up the next morning filled with pain and sorrow.Bamboo No, it's usually some sequence of events that leads us to that place of lonliness. Perhaps it's the loss of a loved one...or a financial setback, perhaps some illness or other calmity. In any event, sometimes the best "gift" you can give someone...is simply to be a friend...to be there when they need you, to console and reassure them of their own self-worth and honestly make them feel loved. I will try to be more aware of these feelings and to give more of myself, for I am blessed with health and happiness. We all certainly deserve to be content!
