Love That Lavender
Nothing quite compares to the scent of fresh lavender. And if you have been following this blog, you are well aware that I have recently purchased and planted some of the perfumed delight. Quite a remarkable plant, lavender's scent is very soothing and calming. No wonder they place its aroma in everything from shampoo to soap and even tea! Simply brushing by the plant emits the heavenly scent and one cannot help but take notice. The flowers, while ocassionally white, are usually found in shades from dark purple to ...well,....lavender! It is a rather, drought tolerant plant and can self-seed itself from year to year. At the end of each season, depending upon where you live, it can simply stay in the ground and next year, will shoot up it's spikes and green foliage. It does absolutely wonderful in full sun and can usually stand even the warmest of summer's. So, if this Spring you are wondering what new "thing" to plant in your garden...why not take a chance with a lavender bush...you will not regret it!
