The Other Side Of The Clouds
My trip was a vast success, the surprise party a delight and there was much happiness all around. Friends and family all gathered to celebrate and rekindle days gone by and refresh acquaintances. Even though my days were rather rainy, I delighted in the drive around old haunts noting that little if anything had changed. The hotel and rental car were quite satisfactory and all preparations seemed to go off without incidence and I felt comfortable being back in familiar surroundings. But I was most contented with my air travel. And although I have experienced it thousands of times before, it never grows old. The anticipation of boarding, the smell of the jet fuel and the pressure that pushes one back into your seat upon takeoff is something that has been etched forever in my mind. At 41,000 feet, I see the clouds and further below the patchwork of mountains, rivers, farms and fields. Above only crystal blue skies that give way to a deeper shade of navy at the furthest reaches of the earths boundary. I cannot help but ingest everything about me. The sights and sounds, smells and feelings all flood my mind with days gone by. I am quite content up there, always to see the "other side" of the clouds!
Today's Quote:
It is better to have your head in the clouds, and know where you are ... than to breathe the clearer atmosphere below them, and think that you are in paradise.-Henry David Thoreau
