How Ridiculous

Do you have a sense of the ridiculous? If not, then you are not very well adjusted. For we all need that sense of craziness from time to time, if only to bring us down from our "ivory towers". No man is really "above" another although, in our society we give them titles which reinforce that absurd idea.Ivory_Tower_Keys There always seems to be someone who thinks they are more lofty in position than someone else. I am reminded of the story of two men confined to an insane assylum and the first walks down the hall shouting " All before me, do as I say...I am NAPOLEAN". A second man walks by and says, "NO...you are not...I am NAPOLEAN". The first, now outraged says, "You must be CRAZY..how do you KNOW that you are Napolean?" The second says, "GOD told me!" When all of the sudden, a stern voice from further down the hall yells, "NO, I DID NOT!". So you see...there will ALWAYS be someone who thinks they are more important than you. And to that end, you need to maintain a sense of the ridiculous if only to recognize the fact that someone always wishes to sit on a higher pedestal!

When they come downstairs from their Ivory Towers, Idealists are very apt to walk straight into the gutter.-Logan Pearsall Smith
