Knowledge

Once I knew a man who would always tell me that "...I feel just like a mushroom. They feed me manure and keep me in the dark." And that might be quite funny, if it were not so true about many people. But the fact is, that many people perfer to live in "blissful ignorance" about the world around them. Maybe they feel too tired to learn, too intimidated to think about life or perhaps, they simply think they know everything there is to know.Mushroom_Moments How sad it is to think that you could not possibly learn a single thing more. For isn't that exactly what life is? The endless series of events that we encounter every minute of our lives and that which we call learning. But true knowledge is a bit more that simply being able to recite multiplication tables or an alphabet. Rather, it is the awareness and understanding that we gain from such study and experience. And when we apply that to our lives, a richer more fulfilling existence can be had. I attempt to seek out and grasp for,  knowledge every day of my life. Out of all the things that man greedily covets, shouldn't knowledge be the first...and perhaps...the only?

Today's Quote:

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind.-Plato
