Pining For You

My walk today beckoned me over my creek and into a small pine forest. What a wonderful place in which to stop and listen to the sounds and glimpse the sights of nature. As the gentle wind blows through the boughs, some older pines seem to creek belying their age while underfoot I tread upon a carpet of pine needles. The screech of a hawk, far off, perhaps calling to its mate, reverberates in this cathedral. Cones of red and brown and auburn litter the ground seeking a place with which to release their seeds.Pine_Cones This peaceful palace of evergreen shelters one so much, that to believe the city just on the other side, is an inconceivable fancy. For it is here that the mind can rest. Turn itself to much calmer thoughts, reflect upon the days events and ponder what will come tomorrow.

Today's Quote:

Strange that so few ever come to the woods to see how the pine lives and grows and spires, lifting its evergreen arms to the light,—to see its perfect success-Henry David Thoreau
