Greener Grass
Recently, I had a discussion with a friend and somehow the topic turned to whether or not their life could have possibly been "better" had some other decision been made. Certainly things would have been different, but "better"? What does "better" really mean? I am not so sure that you can definatively classify such a thing as life, as being "better" or worse"...it simply is. And while I believe that we each choose our own paths, make reasonable decisions and attempt to lead as full a life as we can, is it possible to walk two paths at once? It seems that fate has given us but one life, one such opportunity to exist and to interact within this world. As far as I know, there are no "do overs", no erase and re-start. Surely we all notice our neighbors grass and perhaps, even envy at times, how green it grows, but the fact is that he must mow his just as we do ours. If yours is not quite as "green" as you would like it to be, perhaps all you need do is to feed it with more interest, irrigate it with more compassion and pull the ocassional weed of disenchantment.
Today's Quote:
Any so-called material thing that you want is merely a symbol: you want it not for itself, but because it will content your spirit for the moment.-Mark Twain
