Insight and Outsight
Do you have insight into your own conduct? In other words, do you know why you do the things you do? It's a curious thing that many people are quick to criticize others for their behaviors, yet they do not take the time to understand their own. Surely there are many reasons we do the things we do. Out of kindness or jealousy, anger or friendship...love or lust, there is most certainly always some reason. While we can and do, help others through our actions, you will take careful notice that I did not say that we always have "good" reasons for our behaviors. On the contrary, many of the things we do are selfish and self-serving. It is quite like a dirty window, you know its there but it's difficult to see through. But if you at least have insight into these behaviors there is a good possibility that you can examine the causes behind the soot, apply some cleaner and have a clearer vision of ourselves.
Today's Quote:
Our ideal ... must be a language as clear as glass—the person looking out of the window knows there is glass there, but he is not concerned with it; what concerns him is what comes through from the other side.-Elizabeth Bowen
