Travel Day With the snow beginning to fall sooner than I expected, I got into Tis around 4:15 and headed for BWI. The traffic in the District was abysmal. Backed up for miles and miles, we all plodded through the streets of DC through the densely falling snow. Mass Ave was closed for a few blocks around Mount Vernon Square, handling the detour was a bit of a mess. Once that was all taken care of, it was onto the Baltimore - Washington Parking Lot, er, I mean, Parkway. Traffic on the Parkway inched its way north at a pace that was just about infuriating.
Parking at the airport wasn't too bad, and checkin was a breeze. Thankfully I wasn't searched by the security people, I really hate that. But now, I'm headed to Phoenix for some baseball, some sunshine and maybe some beer. The A's play Milwaukee, Kansas City and the Giants on consecutive days. Bring on the Baseball! |
Good Golly. If you've got some bandwidth and time to spare, download and watch this movie, it's some of the finest editing I've seen in a long time. Well done, even if you're not a Halo player. 11:29:39 AM comment [] |
But...who will be my neighbor now? When I was growing up, my mom made us watch Sesame Street and Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. Okay, so, made us watch probably wasn't the right choice of words, we watched it, it was good stuff. His zip up sweater, changing into sneakers, the fish tank, and that stoplight in the background, it was all so comforting. His voice was so calm and comforting. I don't remember any of the bits like I do with Sesame Street, but I remember it was probably better for me than He-Man or GI Joe. The world is a poorer place without Fred Rogers, but the world was richer for his presence and his message. There's not likely a child in the US and beyond that don't know...
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood
It's a neighborly day in this beautywood,
I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you,
So let's make the most of this beautiful day,
Won't you please,
Goodbye Fred, we'll miss you, neighbor. |
