I have decided to call a meeting of the owners and management of the Greensboro Generals to make some decisions about our investment in, and management of, our hockey team.

The meeting will be held on October 7th between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.  For your convenience, I will be setting up various places around the City where you can let your opinion be known about the issue.

Check your voter registration card for your assigned meeting place.  If you will be unable to attend we have an absentee voting system already in place.  If you are not a registered owner please visit here to apply. (PDF File)

It appears that the News & Record editorial staff has been reading my blog.  Two weeks ago I proposed a set of economic incentive guidelines that companies would have to follow in order to be considered for any taxpayer subsidies.  The City currently has a written policy on handing out incentives, mine takes things a little further.

This morning's editorial states," Requiring Sherwin-Williams, as a condition of the grants, to monitor its emissions and work with neighbors on a reduction plan would improve the quality of life for surrounding city and county residents. In fact, that is just the kind of thing taxpayer-funded incentives ought to enable."

Exactly!...

Roch Smith Jr. recently sent me some research on what Sherwin Williams operations might throw into our already dangerous soup that we call air... and it ain't pretty!  If you want a chemistry lesson that will curl your hair, and perhaps relieve you of some of it... take a look at this.

This morning at 8:50 there was a bad car accident on Smith  Street with injuries.  Emergency vehicles that were dispatched to the scene utilized the closed street formerly known as Lindsay (soon to be center field).  If they had not made the cut through the proposed center field they would have had to go two more blocks south to cut over to Smith Street, adding considerably to the response time.

I really don't think this whole thing has been thought through very well.
