David Hoggard's take on local politics and life in general from Greensboro, NC

Saturday, September 27, 2003

There is a lot of buzz about a piece of mail that was apparently sent to every property owner (or perhaps voter) in the city by the Greensboro Convention and Visitors Bureau (GCVB) this week.  This organization is fully funded by local tax dollars.

The brochure is entitiled "The Downtown Stadium Prohibition Ordinance: Questions & Facts", but it has a definite slant to it.

North Carolina election laws are clear.  If an organization is advocating for the passage of a referendum, they must register as a Referendum PAC.  The Greensboro Convention and Visitors Bureau is not registered as such as of yesterday.
