Some poster named "Jim" is throwing around some pretty awful accusations regarding me in the comments section over at Ed Cone's weblog.  I have invited him to air his accusations here instead of there.

Ed opened the discussion by quoting Tara Sue Grubb's tirade against the Rhino Times.  I was commenting on her efforts to be taken seriously as a mayorial candidate... and off Jim went...

His latest:  I am not looking for "average" in my leadership...Im looking for exceptional. My concern with you as a council member would be that you would cast judgement and your vote on the budget....without looking past what was visable on the opening page. You and your buddies are just trying to capitilize on low voter turn out. Playing the divide and conquer numbers game by trying to dupe and direct the "average" voters with deceit on your front page and nothing in the bank.

The very entertaining and informed Mr. Sun gives our Mayor Pro-Tempore Yvonne Johnson some well deserved praise over at his site.  Yvonne was going to run for Mayor if Keith Holliday had decided to call it quits but, true to her word, she vowed to not oppose Keith.  This is extraordinary in that in a one-on-one race with her good friend the Mayor - it is widely held that Yvonne would win.  She IS an admirable woman.

Sun also questions my choice of words in my ad placement in last week's Rhino in his post.

Go Ahead, Steer The Boat just doesn't have as good a ring to it but his point is well taken.

This same 1/4 page ad will run again in this week's Rhino ($510.00), the Carolina Peacemaker ($315.00) and Earl Jones' Greensboro Times ($175.00).  As of yesterday's pre-primary financial reporting date my receipts are $6645.00, expenditures are $5270.00.  This is going to get even more expensive after the primary (he said confidently).  Donations anyone?

As predicted last week, the Simkins PAC (aka Underground Railroad) has come out against the stadium prohibition ordinance according to the News & Record.  Although they are a registered PAC, they have not filed the necessary paperwork to become a Referendum PAC from my information.  They are clearly advocating a position on the referendum which is not in their current PAC perview.  Oh well...

During the last month I have made it clear in my presentations to the Black community that I am seeking the Simkins PAC endorsement for City Council.  Unlike their traditional White at-large pick, Don Vaughn, I live in East Greensboro and I not only empathize with the issues affecting where we live, I and my family are directly affected by City Council votes concerning District 2.

Many private conversations with Black friends and acquaintances has revealed a slipping of influence of the Simkins PAC since Dr. Simkins' passing.  But with all due political respect to the influential African-American Clergy, the Railroad is still formidable.
