About.com Guides Are Sueing Over Wages and Employment Status
Mary 21, 2001

Thirty four current and former employees of About.com, the web guide, have sued the website and its parent company Primedia (NYSE: PRM) for failure to pay minimum and overtime wages, according to a story by Dow Jones Newswires. The plaintiffs, who filed their lawsuit Wednesday in Manhattan federal court, also claim Primedia has improperly recorded About.com's revenue and expenses in order to make its balance sheet look healthier. The suit claims that the About.com service "would not have functioned without the plaintiffs' ongoing labor" and the plaintiffs--who are designated by Primedia as "independent contractors--should be recognized as Primedia employees. In addition, the plaintiffs claim Primedia has engaged in "fictitious, improper and/or fraudulent" accounting in its dealings with About.com. The suit seeks some $100 million in damages or $1 million for each member, whichever is greater. [Dow Jones Newservice]

HELP! I'm in the process of re-organizing the site, and more specifically the Categories and their Navigation.  But it's not working.  I'm trying to post the results on the Skating Diva Category, but it's not showing up there.  Any ideas?

Has anyone ever had Radio hang up your system and make the CPU go nuts? Mine's taking a hell of a lot of resources. (FYI I'm on Win98 on the notebook)

Also A couple of you have asked about the large type-- I wear bifocals-- actually TRI focals -- Nuff said.

I am still looking for a webdesign guru who will help me redesign this site to actually be fully functional and get the graphics so they don't appear like a ransom note. I had someone email me a couple weeks ago-- but I will be damned if I can find the note.  HIT THE YELLOW ENVELOPE IN THE LEFT COLUMN AND EMAIL ME IF YOU NEED A SMALL PROJECT!
