New Politics Program
National Civic League: "The National Civic League recently announced the Denver Student Voices Project, a program encouraging active civic and political engagement of Denver Public High School students with the 2003 Denver mayoral candidates, schools, the press, and their neighborhoods. The Project works with high schools to implement a yearlong curriculum focusing on the study of the issues and candidates in their city's mayoral campaign, as well as the study of the political process. "
From the website, "The report concludes by reaffirming the positive impact that information technology can and has had on civic engagement and public deliberation, and how it makes it easier for citizens to become active and engaged by collecting and disseminating information about their existing physical and social infrastructure. By facilitating the ability for governments to hear and respond to this information, citizens are enhancing their civic networks and thereby the strength and health of their communities." Wonder if the students are writing weblogs?
