Bolton
Yahoo!: "Sen. Patrick Leahy, of Vermont, like other leading Democrats, predicted the Senate would approve Bolton, a strong critic of the United Nations, this week or next but said no previous American ambassador to the world body was approved by a small margin." Thanks to the Daily Kos for the link.

Tancredo for President?
Coyote Gulch wonders how he missed this article about Tom Tancredo and possible presidential plans from the Denver Post [June 5, 2005, "Tancredo working to turn the tide"]. From the article, "Unimposing but with a habit of speaking his mind, Tancredo has carefully crafted an image as a Republican maverick willing to challenge both his party and his president. With most analysts betting that immigration will play a major role in the 2008 presidential election, the Littleton lawmaker and his staff are ramping up to ride the wave. He plans to tour several primary states, calling for militarization of the border and a crackdown on employers who hire illegal immigrants. If no other serious candidate appears who will support those goals, Tancredo says he plans to enter the Republican presidential primaries."

Governor Rumours?
Colorado Pols: "Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper's reign at the top of the Governor Line has come to an end. We've had Hickenlooper as the odds-on favorite in the governor's race since we started the Governor Line, but we've heard enough in the last few days to indicate that Hick is leaning so far against running that he had to fall down. The latest rumor is that Hickenlooper might actually endorse Rutt Bridges for governor." Gotta love the rumour mill

Eagle Soaring?
Here's a short article about recovery efforts on the Eagle River from the Denver Post [June 7, 2005, "Cleanup spawns a river's return"]. From the article, "But the fact there are fish today in the Eagle River as it flows near Minturn is a small miracle, environmental regulators say. In the early 1990s, excessive cadmium and zinc from the Eagle Mine had all but wiped out the fishery."
