Jeb Bush for President?
Political Wire: "Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) 'has for months sternly rejected running to replace his brother in the White House, but only now are we finding out why. Friends say it's his wife, Columba, who closed the door,' Washington Whispers reports. Says a close Bush Florida political friend: 'His wife has just said no.'"

Oval Office 2008: "Virginia Republican Senator George Allen was the 'leading co-sponsor' of the recent Senate resolution offering an apology for failing to enact anti-lynching legislation in the past and the Richmond Times-Dispatch here suggests that his involvement could be helpful to him 'if controversial parts of his record on race were targeted' during a presidential campaign."

Oval Office 2008: "Associated Press doesn't seem to rate Iowa Democratic Governor Tom Vilsack's 2008 chances that highly."

Q&A with Douglas W. Smith
We've seen online Q&A's with politicians lately. Here's a new type of Q&A from New West. They write, "Douglas W. Smith, biologist and co-author (with Gary Ferguson) of Decade of the Wolf: Returning the Wild to Yellowstone, and current head of the Yellowstone Wolf Recovery Project, will, over the next few days, be responding to questions from New West readers." You gotta love the Internet.

Possible Supreme Court Nominees
Washington Post: "A look at some likely candidates if a vacancy occurs on the Supreme Court." Thanks to Blogs for Bush for the link.

Blogs for Bush: "It might be that John McCain is just doing a bit of triangulating to ingratiate himself with the GOP's right wing after he outraged us all with his McCain Mutiny on judicial nominations, but we'll take what we can get if it'll help us confirm John Bolton."

Holtzman or Bridges for Governor?
Here's an editorial about Rutt Bridges and Mark Holtzman from the Denver Post [June 18, 2005, "Holtzman, Bridges add to 2006 race"]. They write, "Marc Holtzman and Rutt Bridges are two earnest, wealthy guys looking to be governor. They're eager to make a mark on Colorado's political and economic future and sure to add color and buzz to a race that looks wide open. We welcome them to the hunt. Neither has had experience in elected office, but it's not for want of trying (they both have). They are smart, well-networked and from different points on the political spectrum, they have thrown themselves into state policy debates in recent years."

Father's Day
A picture named fathersday.jpgCoyote Gulch salutes the fathers of the world. We hope you're planning a howling good time with your children today. Maybe a bit of camping or at least a barbecue.

Ed Quillen writes about his father. According to Quillen, "You get to know people by spending time with them."

A little Father's Day history from NewMexiKen.
