News: The Detroit News has an article on the front of its Metro section
today about astronomy and the planet grouping in the western sky --
http://www.detnews.com/2002/metro/0205/02/d01-479661.htm
Comment: It's nice to see the general media once again highlighting the
planetary grouping and encouraging people to get outside and look at it. I
also like the photo that shows astronomy as a friendly, family-oriented
activity.
The reporter writes about how affordable telescopes are helping to
popularize our hobby. I sent him an e-mail suggesting that he do a follow-up
article sometime about the huge influence of cheap computerized scopes like
the Meade ETX.
News: Tornado that hits Maryland was a highest-level "F5". Is Michigan next?

Comment: Rob Dale, meteorologist for TV6, said at our astronomy club meeting
last night that there is some indication that the weather pattern creating
severe storms across the mid-South will shift up into Michigan in mid-May.
