News: Laugh-out-loud at this parody of a creative writing assignment, subtitled "Why Psych Majors Almost Never Date Engineers -- http://www.mamohanraj.com/Amusing/fuzzy.html

Comment: The setup is that a woman who is a psych major and a man who is an engineering major are in the same writing class and have to collaborate on this writing assignment -- each writing alternating paragraphs. The results are pretty funny, especially if you have been around guy engineering majors at U of M (right, Vanessa?)

I high school I had to collaborate on writing a sci-fi story with another guy from my class. But he could not write worth beans, so we agreed that I would write the story and he would type up the final copy. It was a pretty good story, so I was shocked when we only got a "C" on it. But when I read the paper again after I got it back from the teacher, I discovered the ending was completely different from what I had originally written. What happened? My buddy said he "got tired of typing and decided to shorten the ending". Instead of using my original ending, which neatly wrapped up everything, he changed it to an abrupt "and then the spacecraft blew up and everyone died the end." Aargh!

News: Is this for real? Dr. Fiorella Terenzi claims to be an astrophysicist, author and recording artist and her Web site says she is "a cross between Carl Sagan and Madonna" -- http://www.fiorella.com/fiorprofile.htm

Comment: I guess the glamour photos of her on the Web site appeal to most male astronomy geek's ( http://home.attbi.com/~caac/) fantasies of what woman astronomers should look like. I'm not sure if Fiorella's a good astronomer or a good musician, but she certainly has mastered the art of self promotion.

However, I wish her Web page designer would tell her that the pale yellow text on black background is almost unreadable.
