I'm sure many of you have wondered that since this is the Slat Rat Chronicles, why there aren't very many (if any) ski blog entries. Well, there's a reason for that. My Chronic Fatigue Syndrome has really thumped me for the past two years. However, as a result of the injection and physical regimens prescribed by Dr Bateman, my fabulous CFS doc, and the support of the very loyal Ski Boy, I am now finally well enough to ski.
I'm in terrible shape and x-c skate skiing requires very good physical conditioning. Right now, I'm a bit of a fat wheezy slob. However, I had my first sort of good, and definitely encouraging skate ski tonight. I did four miles and didn't feel too bad. Yea!

Tonight's wine: Saint Cosme 2000 Cote-Rotie. This is an interesting wine which according to its label is made solely from the Cote-Rotie species of syrah known as petit sreine, an ancient small-berried vine.
I found it to be a thorough, well made wine. By thorough, I mean that from the time it hits the palate to the time the last drop trickles down your gullet, the flavors are all there and still releasing. A very nice and classic rhone - spicey, not too huge but very complete.
