Mom and I spent the afternoon Geocaching with a break for lunch at Felix's, Metro Books new little creperie and some shopping tossed in. A pretty great day.
We did three caches - one woodsy cache and two downtown caches. The woodsy cache took us awhile - bouncy GPS readings yet again. But fortunately the mosquitos were not too hideous. We then did lunch, stopped by home so I could change into shorts and a t-shirt, and then headed downtown for the next two caches. We polished off the two caches in short order - with a little shopping in between.
We walked the two blocks from our last cache to Orso's where we capped our day with absolutely fabulous Blood Orange Cosmopolitans. Does life get any more perfect?!

 Mom Under the Watchful Eye of the Captain. Our second cache of the day.
This one was somewhat tricky because there were a bunch of tourists sitting on the bench that happened to be ground zero. As a matter of fact, when they saw us with the GPS, they got really excited and asked if we were geocaching.
And to be completely forthcoming, one of the tourists actually found the cache - she ran her hands under the bench and found the cache! It was cleverly velcroed up under a support strut.

 The final cache of day: Current Events.
This one was very cute. However, once it became clear to us that the cache was indeed in the Daily News vending box, I had to run across street to the Marriott to get quarters.
After this cache, we strolled over to Orso's for Blood Orange Cosmopolitans. Slurp!
