It's been so hot that no one is getting much sleep. Last night, I finally managed to doze off around 12:30 AM.
Poor Clem was so hot that the bed was shaking in time to her constant panting.
Then at 4:00 AM, our young fox decided to have another one of his screaming sessions - for twenty minutes, he sat in the cul-de-sac and did his blood curdling best to let everyone know that he was very unhappy.
At 5:30 AM, the Lagoon's resident flock of gulls started having issues. They were did their "Mine. Mine. Mine." thing for at least an hour.
I don't hold out much hope that tonight will be any better...

Today, my boss again booted us out of the office at Noon!!!!
Sunny warm days are rare. In the old days in Juneau (our state capitol which notorious for its cold rainy weather), the Governor would ring the bell on the one or two sunny summer days. All the State offices would close down and everyone would rush out to frolic in the all-too-rare good weather.

We're in the midst of yet another hot spell. We set a record high yesterday: 79 degrees.
I realize all you folks in the lower 48 scoff at our pitiful 79 degree high. However, the official temp is recorded at the airport which is right on the water and is usually five to ten degrees cooler than anywhere else in Anchorage. It was in the mid to high 80's everywhere else in town yesterday.
And other than office buildings and stores, no one has air conditioning and the sun stays up until 11:30 PM. So it's unrelentingly hot and sunny until very late in the evening.
