Dellbert, the Ski Boy's Dell laptop, appears to have been nailed by some sort of virus. We're getting an lsass.exe shutdown message everytime he tries to connect to the Internet. This is certainly a hallmark of the Sasser worm and its variants.

However, I ran Stinger on Dellbert and Stinger did not detect an infection. So, I'm sort of a loose ends on this one...

It was quite the little travel day for the ol' Slat Rat.

The Ski Boy and I checked out of our spiffy Pioneer Square hotel around 11:00 AM and had a quick breakfast. I then caught a cab to the Seattle airport while the Ski Boy headed off to the BoSox- Mariners game.

I arrived in Oakland around 4:30 PM, picked up my luggage, lugged it over to the AirBart bus depot - caught the AirBart bus to the Oakland Coliseum Bart Station and then stood and waited for my train. And waited. And waited...

After about forty minutes, it dawned on me that I could be really messed up. I went and looked at the schedule and discovered that the train I was waiting for, actually didn't go through that station. I had goofed when I originally looked at the map. I could have boarded any one of the five Richmond trains that had passed me by during my forty minute wait.

So, I finally got on the right train - lugging my very heavy luggage, BART'd into Oakland, changed trains and BART'd up to Walnut Creek. My train pulled into Walnut Creek at 6:30 PM.

I lugged my bags off the train, down the escalator where my cousin, Lisa was waiting for me. After a small misadventure getting me and my big bag through the exit, Lisa and I headed off to her home to pick up Aunt Jane and Jillian (and deposit a load of my clothes in the washing machine).

The four of us had a fabulous dinner at my favorite Walnut Creek restaurant, La Prima. Total yum!!!!!

We then headed back to Lisa's home, dropped off Aunt Jane, picked up my luggage and then went back to the BART station. I caught the 9:12 PM BART into San Francisco and disembarked at the Embarcadaro station at 9:45 PM and hauled my luggage the five blocks to the fabulous Harbour Court hotel where the Ski Boy awaited. He had arrived from Seattle a mere 45 minutes earlier.

Whew!

I wing my way south this afternoon to the Bay Area for part two of my trip. I'll get to see Lisa, Jillian, and Aunt Jane. Oh boy!!!!

And fortuitously enough, the Ski Boy has a big mediation in San Francisco, so he'll be there also!!!

Yipeee!!!!!!!!

Last night, Pioneer Square had to be seen to be believed. Washington State plays one home game a year at Seahawk stadium, and yesterday was the day for this year's Seattle home game.

There were thousands and thousands of folks in maroon Wazzu garb all over Pioneer Square. The bars were packed and people were spilling out into the sidewalk. The walk back from the Red Sox-Mariners game (which the red sox won by the way) was a total hoot. Pretty amazing stuff for an Alaskan Slat Rat.
