Yesterday, I upgraded my Mozilla Firefox browser to version 1.0. Very nice indeed. An extremely clean and simple upgrade. I haven't had a chance to play with its new features. But pages seem to load faster and the look and feel has been streamlined even more.

And then there's that RSS button in the lower right hand corner. I definitely need to play with that!

It's been a very busy three days on the Slat Rat Technical front.

I installed Lisa's wireless network, identified and transferred a boat load of files - mostly videos which are really big - from the old desktop's hard drive to an external (portable) hard drive, fixed a problem with the new laptop's XP SP2 wireless device manager (it really objects to being disabled), exported the e-mail address book, browser favorites, and cookies from the desktop to the new laptop, etc....When I left this evening, everything seemed to be running very smoothly. whew!

The other tech battle I fought and won, was obliterating any trace of the latest Sasser Worm variant from Dellbert (Peter's laptop). Man - that was a job. I took three different major runs at it, before I completely nailed it. However, it didn't need to be that difficult. If I had just gone to the Microsoft Web Site at the very beginning, it would have been quite easy. It just didn't dawn on me that Microsoft would actually have detailed instructions. But evidently, they're beginning to get a small clue. Last night, I followed their "seven step Sasser removal program" and it worked like a champ.

So Peter and Dellbert are both very happy!

I am one pooped pup. Today was a very full day indeed. Late this morning, the Ski Boy and I hoofed the many blocks up to Union Square with a detour by the Sony Store and a second detour by the Apple Store. I was on the lookout for a zippy case for my new G4 iPod, "Mr Pode". But alas, the new cases hadn't come in yet. Mr. Pode was quite disappointed.

We had lunch at our favorite little San Francisco cafe, Cafe Claude on Claude Lane. As always, it was just delightful. We then meandered our way back down Market Street, visited the spectacular remodeled Ferry Terminal, and staggered back to the hotel.

At 3:30 PM, I put Peter on the Shuttle Bus to SFO airport and I caught a cab up to one of the Zen Motherships of North America, the San Francisco Zen Center. It dawned on me that while I was in San Francisco, I should make a run by the Zen Center's bookstore. Needless to say, my stop was a very profitable visit for the Zen Center. With the help of the bookstore clerk, I picked up several very good books.

I hoofed the ten blocks from the Zen Center to the nearest BART station and BART'd my way back out to Walnut Creek. Lisa picked me up at the BART station, we returned to her house where we did some last minute computer stuff and then Lisa, Jillian, and I went out to dinner at Stella Delle. A great little Italian Bistro. Jillian and I did Rock-Paper-Scissors to decide who paid for dinner. I lost. So I paid. Jillian informed me that "She always wins at Rock-Paper-Scissors".

After dinner, Lisa and Jillian dropped me off at the BART station and I came back into the City.

And now, I am a dead person.
