It's been absolutely pouring all day - the three inches of snow in our yard were rained away by Noon. The temp has been hovering around 39 degrees for most of the day. But evidently a cold air mass just moved in.

Yesterday, Peter and I escaped the blizzard by going to the Bear Tooth for Fahrenheit 9/11. I have to say that I am not a huge Michael Moore fan. I thought Bowling for Columbine was over the top. Moore could have made a much more powerful movie if he had backed off a bit. As it was, I thought Columbine was too self serving.
And that's what I expected on the 9/11 front. I figured that the message would be lost because Moore couldn't hold back.
Well, I was wrong. 9/11, surprisingly was not over the top. There were a few vintage Moore moments and there were times when he drew conclusions that were probably way out there. However, overall, Moore just presented the story in a very straight forward A to Z manner.
All I have to say that if Clinton was the one with all those extraordinary Saudi and Bin Laden ties, there would have been special investigations up to wahzoo. But not in the Bush case. I was aware of the Bush-Saudi-Bin Laden connections. But I haven't spent the time to delve into it - I figured I would just get too mad.
As you view the Slat Rat Chronicals and if Firefox is your browser (and if it isn't, it damn well should be!!!!!), you will notice this spiffy little button, in the lower right hand corner.
Yup, Firefox now knows that the Slat Rat Chronicles have an RSS feed. If you click on the little button, you can establish a Live Bookmark. Live Bookmarks are a Firefox feature that allow you to view a site's RSS headlines in your Bookmarks menu. It's quite clean. I've already set up Live Bookmarks for several sites.
A big thanks to Joe of San Bei Ji. Joe's blog displayed the RSS button so I sent him an e-mail asking what the secret was. He immediately responded with the answer: a tag in the <head> section.
Yesterday's snow storm was quite the record breaker. We received 6 inches of snow which absolutely shattered the previous record for "largest early snow" - 2.6 inches on September 29, 1965 (just two months after Mom and I arrived in Anchorage!).
Power flickered off and on all over town as snow laden trees bent and collapsed onto power lines. Peter and his Sunday morning running group, had to make their way around several downed trees along the Coastal Trail. As I wrote yesterday, we lost at least half of our 40 foot Mayday tree - it split in two right at the base.
Here are some pictures from yesterday:
Here's a shot in this morning's Daily News. The Region IV Cross Country Running Championships were held yesterday at Kincaid Park. The weather looks more appropriate for the cross country skiing championships.
