My brother Leland is a satellite truck up-link operator. He's always at the major news events. He spent a week in Florida with Hurricane Charley.
And he made a new friend. Without further ado, here's Leland introducing his new little buddy:
Hello Everyone,
This is Charley,

Charley, this is everyone.
This little guy was hanging around our live shot positions at a mobile home park that was devastated by Hurricane Charley in Punta Gorda, Fl. Crew members began feeding him and the kitty moved in with us. We did some checking with a few of the neighbors and they suggested that Charley belonged to an elderly couple that were killed when their mobile home was destroyed. That was verified when their son showed up to survey the remains of the mobile home.

The son said he could not take the cat with him, did not know the cat's name and then left him among the rubble when he departed. Still hanging around and starved for attention, Charley recognized a soft touch when he saw one and began staying in the truck with me. After some intense negotiations with my wife, we decided that Charley would come home with me.

Below is what is left of Charley's house. How he survived, let alone came out with just a couple of bumps and scratches is beyond me. A vet checked Charley out on the way home from Florida and pronounced him to be a healthy, declawed, neutered male about five months old.
He is now home with me and settling in with the rest of the animals. The dogs accepted him right off. The other two cats we a bit less anxious to share their turf with a new kitten, but they seem to be coming around with a surprisingly small amount of feline swearing.
