Hewey is three years old. He only has an 18 G hard drive. My Creative Nomad Zen MP3 player has a 20 G hard drive. My MP3 player has a bigger hard drive than my laptop.

How sad is that?

Today was Primary Day in the State of Alaska. We have a sort of odd primary ballot situation - four years ago, the Republicans decided to close their primary ballot. So, the only folks that vote a primary Republican ballot are either "Undeclared" or registered Republicans. Everybody else has stayed with an open primary ballot. So, that means that the Republicans have their very own ballot and all other candidates are grouped together on a single ballot.

Because I'm in the "Undeclared" category, I usually take the open ballot. But this primary was a little different. I took a Republican ballot so I could vote for Lisa for Senate. I was worried that if her extremely right wing opponent, Mike Miller, won he could then win the general election. Alaska is such a reactionary conservative state, that this was a real concern. I'd rather have Lisa than Mike Miller.

Tonight's early election returns have Lisa comfortably in the lead. Whew...

And this evening, just to counter balance my Republican vote, I affixed my brand new Bush on Mars in 2004 bumper sticker on "Henry".

Well, I was sitting here engaged in the very exciting task of defragging Hewey's hard drive when my chair started shaking. Now, the Hewster's hard drive is in pretty bad shape. But I doubt that even all those gnarled up bytes falling out of the drive would have caused my chair to start whumping up against the wall.

I'll have to check the Tsunami Warning Center site in the next few minutes for an update.

And the answer is: a 5.4 Magnitude Quake, 40 miles north of Valdez and 120 miles northeast of Anchorage. It was only 3 miles deep - in the realm of earthquakedom, that is extremely shallow.
