We're in the midst of quite the interesting atmospheric event. It's 3:00 PM and it is dark - not black as night, but it is getting there. All the street lights are on, cars have their lights on - it's like a late afternoon in late Fall.
The dimming of the overhead lighting is the result of a ton of wildfire smoke and heavy storm clouds. The combination has resulted in some the blackest cloudes I've seen since the eruption of Mt. Spurr in 1992.
And oh by the way, the heavy wet storm clouds are driving the smoke down to the ground resulting in an overwhelming wet campfire smell.
