City Councilman Tom Phillips on the Greensboro Truth and Reconciliation Commission's appearance before the City Council: "What did become clear to me was what Nelson Johnson wants. He wants the City Government of Greensboro to accept responsibility for what happened in 1979." Actually, Tom, the City of Greensboro already accepted some responsbility by paying a $350,000 civil judgment in the case. That's part of the history that the Commission will tell. I have come to believe that they will also discuss the responsibility of the planners of the march. Note how Phillips wants to make this about Nelson Johnson. Right or wrong, that is the political reality the GTRC has to address. 10:32:55 AM comment [] |
Greensboro City Council member Sandy Carmany has a weblog. Carmany in the comments at Hoggard's blog: "Wow, this works fast -- already hearing from folks. Now, if I can just keep my foot out of my mouth, this could get interesting!" Hoggard says, "Sandy Carmany blogs. Others are scared." He notes that she is the fourth Council member to start a blog. Starting one, of course, is not the same as maintaining one. Which is fine. These things are work, people should understand that. Reminder: blog teach-in tomorrow. 10:15:35 AM comment [] |
