100 things about me

"A person should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful that God has implanted in the human soul." - Goethe

Leaves of Grass (1891-92)

ASSURANCES

I need no assurances, I am a man who is pre-occupied of his own soul;

I do not doubt that from under the feet and beside the hands and face I am cognizant of, are now looking faces I am not cognizant of, calm and actual faces,

I do not doubt but the majesty and beauty of the world are latent in any iota of the world,

I do not doubt I am limitless, and that the universes are limitless, in vain I try to think how limitless,

I do not doubt that the orbs and the systems of orbs play their swift sports through the air on purpose, and that I shall one day be eligible to do as much as they, and more than they,

I do not doubt that temporary affairs keep on and on millions of years,

I do not doubt interiors have their interiors, and exteriors have their exteriors, and that the eyesight has another eyesight, and the hearing another hearing, and the voice another voice,

I do not doubt that the passionately-wept deaths of young men are provided for, and that the deaths of young women and the deaths of little children are provided for,

(Did you think Life was so well provided for, and Death, the purport of all Life, is not well provided for?)

I do not doubt that wrecks at sea, no matter what the horrors of them, no matter whose wife, child, husband, father, lover, has gone down, are provided for, to the minutest points,

I do not doubt that whatever can possibly happen anywhere at any time, is provided for in the inherences of things,

I do not think Life provides for all and for Time and Space, but I believe Heavenly Death provides for all.

   ---Walt Whitman

Rocky Top Brigade Welcome!

A big ol' howdy and welcome to some fine new members of the Rocky Top Brigade!  Hope I've included everyone that's recently been inducted.  I'm always a day late and a dollar (make that $5 today) short, but I plan to pay a visit to each and every one of these weblogs.  (never saw so many mountain boys in my life...<sigh>)

Lost money
If you happen to run across a stray $5 bill, it's mine.  Lost it somewhere between my office and the cafeteria.  I swear I put it in my pocket before walking over there...didn't I?  Don't worry about postage...unless it blew across the pond.

Ugly Dress dot com

Here's an archive of the world's ugliest bridesmaid dresses.  "Proof of some of the dresses that our friends, the brides, have made us wear so that they could look good."  Is there one hanging in the back of your closet??

If looks could kill....

Thought this was hilarious!

True story (not my family though!): ...via Free Republic

My sister-in law is from Oklahoma and has a slight accent. She has cats and when she lived in the south she would take them to the groomers and have what is called a Line Cut. To her a line cut is when all of the fur hanging down below the cat's tummy is taken off because it gets matted or snarled). When she moved to Chicago with my brother, one of the cat's fur got all tangled up during the move so she took it in for a line cut. She was quite surprised when she heard the price, as it was twice as much as it was down south. She confirmed with the groomer that he understood what a line cut was and he said "Yes, I know what a LION cut is." It seems her accent came out sounding like LION not LINE and this is how her cat was returned to her. (see PHOTOS) She cried for a week...but not as much as the cat. It was November in Chicago and the cat needed all the fur it had.

Gas in car to go to groomers....$4.50
Cat car carrier...........................$32.99
Grooming fee............................$80.00
Getting "the look" from one seriously ticked off cat..Priceless!
