The floodRain, rain and more rain. We've had vertical rain, horizontal rain, perpendicular rain, sheets of rain, walls of rain, torrents, mistings, sprinkles, and gushes of rain. Flood warnings across the state of Tennessee that cannot be survived with duct tape only - bring out the rowboats kids, we're gonna float gently down the stream (or in my case, the driveway). Why oh why didn't I buy an new umbrella? And galoshes? There is a constant drip dripping from the window blind behind me, and I'll be damned if I can find the source. The window casing is dry, but just along the cord holding each slat in position, is a small drip of water landing on the window sill. A blue kitchen towel lays atop the sill, absorbing the intrusion, and I hear the sounds pickup trucks and souped-up sports cars swishing along the water-logged street behind my house. I worry about the little guy next door who faithfully walks his Shitzu every morning - no sign of them so far; and the alcoholic two blocks away who walks every morning to the corner market for his first bottle of Pabst Blue Ribbon. Not a good day to be walking where there are no sidewalks and water three inches deep just waiting for the next Dodge Ram to roll by.8:25:02 AM ![]()
