Quite a bit has been written on Arianna Huffington's anti SUV ad campaign.

I feel it is fair as it forces people to think and talk about the issues. SUVs have a rich history of deception on the part of the government and the auto industry. People think they are buying safety, which is far from the truth. The issues of cheap oil, war and over consumption need much more public debate.

A high end Lexus SUV rolled in front of me nearly hitting me. The driver was only going 35mph on a nearly straight road and sustained some serious injuries. A 19 year old kid rolled the family Ford Explorer taking a corner a bit too fast killing a passenger in his vehicle as well as an on-coming car. He was seriously injured along with another person.

If were have invested in Qwest you may be interested in the humble home that Joe Naccio, its ex-CEO, is building.

About ten years ago I was part of a small team that was tasked with making presentations to Joe and his fellow execs about the future of the Internet. Joe was the only exec who "got it" - he seemed much smarter than his counterparts in other business units. He also seemed to be the type who treated everything as a game that could be played to his advantage.

I could be very wrong (I haven't met that many high level business people), but he didn't seem to be very moral or very honest - just a very smart gamer. At the time the other people I was working with commented "Bill Gates must be a lot like Joe."

One can be wrong, but I hope those who are investigating what went wrong at Qwest and the other telecoms look very deeply into the actions of the principals. Sadly the current administration isn't that different from what Russia has and the business elite here (in some industries) doesn't seem that different from the Russian oligarchy.
