Murder He Wrote

WARNING:Although I will attempt to keep the next few posts as "agreeable" as possible, realize that they may very well contain graphic information not suitable for some audiences! It is my interpretation of the events as I experienced them.

This is a very, very sad story of the greatest proportion and depths of emotions. I feel it best to expound it in small doses, if not for the readers consumption, then for my own ease of acceptance. A story of lives forever changed by mere quirks of fate and human decisions when choices were made and extreme prices were ultimately paid. Please understand that this case, while quite informative and "interesting"...was absolutely agonizing and painful to everyone involved...no less, we the jurors. Many of us had and still have, difficulty with sleeping and exceptional stress brought on by this experience. Courthouse All stories must have a beginning and with this one I think it best to simply state the basic facts as they were offered to me at the onset of the trial. The defendant was arrested and charged with the following crimes:

1. Street Terrorism

2. Attempted Robbery

3. Robbery

4. Murder

Four different "counts", each of which also contained several "special circumstances" and "enhancements". While I will not delve into the specifics, realize that these "special circumstances" were things such as the "use of a firearm", "discharge of said firearm" and "in the commission of gang activity". And finally, but a most important aspect of this case was the fact that all these crimes were committed by..."a juvenile", who was then being tried as an "adult". So there I leave you for today. Ponder if you will, the thoughts that ran through my mind, having only this limited knowledge as the trial began and try to absorb these most distressful facts. (to be continued)

Today's Quote:

Those who are incapable of commiting great crimes do not readily suspect them in others.-Francois De La Rochefoucauld
