Total Eclipse Of The Heart
Tonight I witnessed a total eclipse of the moon, something that has not been viewed for over three years. And as the light first dimmed and then reappeared, I watched and thought. Thoughts of long ago when man first witnessed such events with awe and terror. Thoughts of lovers who sat beneath just such a moon and professed undying love for one another. And thoughts of whether or not we are "alone" in this vast universe. As unalike as these thoughts may seem to be on the surface, they all share a common thread...that of passion. A passion for knowledge and explanations to events in our lives, a passion to be loved and hold unto one another and a passion to dream of others yet farther than we can reach. Are these not things that most of us think about constantly? The thought of belonging and exchanging ideas or feelings for someone else? Perhaps it takes just such strange events to occur within our lives, so that when our feelings become less "eclipsed", often we can see things more clearly.
Today's Quote:
The poet who walks by moonlight is conscious of a tide in his thought which is to be referred to lunar influence.-Henry David Thoreau
