Bomb Threats

Today we had a bomb threat during fifth period.  Again.  We've had several bomb threats lately, most during fifth period.  Each time the bell sounds for one, we dutifully walk out in the blazing sun and bake for at least twenty minutes.  And I do mean bake.  It was hovering around 100 degrees out there today.

Whoever is getting their jollies by calling in these bomb threats needs to grow up.  Making over two thousand people march out into the sun and waste their time is not funny, cool, or even original.

Maybe this individual (or individuals) doesn't care too much about their fellow students.  Maybe this person is incredibly selfish.  Maybe this person has nothing better to do.

Wait.  Why am I saying "maybe"?  There are no maybes here.  I knew it wasn't maybe going to be miserable outside.  Or that I would maybe sweat.  I also knew my students wouldn't maybe miss out on the instruction that they'll need for their exams next week.

I will tell you about a definitely.  With all these bomb threats, the students are definitely taking them less seriously each time they occur.  So then what if an emergency actually did happen, and students were seriously wounded (or worse) because they thought it was just another bomb threat, like the many we've had, and didn't hurry to get outside?  I fail to see the humor in that situation.  That's another reason why I know I'm not alone in wishing I could get my hands on this cowardly piece of crap and make sure that the incredibly stupid idea of calling in a bomb threat to a school never crossed their poor excuse for a mind never again.

All that aside, I did have my camera with me during one of the bomb threats.  Got a nice group photo, a pic of Monica working on her art primitive-style, and Diana just had to get a photo with the teacher:

Spurs Deserve Some Respect

It's been sickening seeing all the articles on the sports websites saying, "The Lakers won't roll over" or "The Spurs are too soft and won't be able to win the big one on the road."

I hope tomorrow that some of those same websites give the Spurs the respect they deserve.  110-82?  That's 28 points worth of respect that they are due.

Just look at these stories bending over and kissing the collective asses of the Lakers.  Kobe is going to be the difference?  He disappeared in tonight's game.  Phil Jackson is too good a coach?  He has two of the best players in the league, whereas Popovich has a bunch of players that no-one seems to respect outside of Duncan, and yet those no-names coached by Popovich killed the Lakers tonight.

CNNSI's website still has an article posted saying the Lakers "probably" won't lose.  Marty Burns said fans should not expect the Lakers to roll over with the season on the line against the Spurs.  Um, Marty?  They rolled over and didn't just play dead.  They are dead.
