News -- Refurbished Hubble Space Telescope returning terrific views of universe: http://www.nytimes.com/2002/06/06/science/06ASTR.html

Comment -- A good article in the June Sky and Telescope magazine ( http://skyandtelescope.com/news/current/article_530_1.asp) has photos of how astronauts retrofitted the Hubble. It's really cool how they removed the old solar panels and attached new ones that are smaller but much more efficient.

Maybe they can keep the old hulk running for years by adding new technology to the shell. Kind of like how the B-52 bomber is constantly updated with new electronics and weapons systems.

News -- Really good view of the sky Thursday night. I went out to Sarah and Joe's property and ran my little computerized ETX-70 around. It's great fun using a computerized go-to scope. Very relaxing. The ETX-70 showed some nice views of objects I would not have expected it to be able to see: M51, M81/82 and Ring Nebula.
