News: Scientists discover still another Jupiter-like planet around a distant star: http://www.nytimes.com/2002/06/19/science/19PLAN.html

Comment: This is seen as a more promising discovery than the one last week, because this system does not appear to have huge planets orbiting very close to the host star (as last week's discovery does). So, it's a little more similar to our Solar System.

News: Robot in Britain makes a run for the border! "Scientists running a pioneering experiment with 'living robots' which think for themselves said they were amazed to find one escaping from the centre where it 'lives'" (thanks to Brandon for the tip on this story) -- http://news.ninemsn.com.au/Sci_Tech/story_33994.asp

Comment: Also check out this contest in Britain to make a robot that looks like Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal) -- http://idiotica.co.uk/vaults/alloy.shtml

News: A fourth night in a row for observing through my new telescope.

Comment: Very unusual and due entirely to the fact that I'm observing the Moon. Last night was quite murky, and if the Moon had not been out, I would not have observed anything. Yesterday I also updated the software in my Autostar controller, but I won't be able to enjoy the benefits of the upgrades until I get my tripod and can properly position the scope.
