News: Detroit News series continues on the high cost of health care and
health insurance and what to do about it --
http://www.detnews.com/editorial/index.htm
Comment: Everyone one of us should be outraged that Michigan has
higher-than-the-nation's average health care and insurance costs, but
below-average quality of health. What are we getting for all this money we
are spending?
And it is our money that is being spent, even if the companies for which we
work are picking up the health care tab. This is not a freebie...when the
cost of health insurance skyrockets (up more than 25% statewide this year
for small business owners), that means less money for pay increases for
employees. For some companies, it means fewer jobs for you and me.
News: Hail yes! Washington Post has article about weird-but-true hail
stories: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A22330-2002Jun9.html
Comment: In 1993, hail fell to a depth of 18 inches in Maryland...at least
two people have been killed in the last 15 years by getting struck by a
chunk of hail...the biggest recorded chunk of hail weighed 2 1/2 pounds.
