News: Whatever happened to global warming? The wife and I spent the weekend
in the Traverse City area and the weather was the worst I have seen for
mid-June in over 25 years --

Comment: For example, we were in Petoskey on Saturday afternoon and it was
45 degrees, driving cold rain and dense fog! It was crazy. Normally, it
should be sunny and at least the mid-80s this time of year. Thankfully, the
weather cleared up a bit on Sunday afternoon and we enjoyed at least a
couple hours of nice scenery before we had to heard back downstate.
I really feel sorry for the small business owners in the region. They depend
on a very short tourist season of about three months...four months,
tops...when they have to make the bulk of their money for the year. When bad
weather keeps the tourists away, it hurts their profits, big time.
In addition, late frosts have wiped out most of the fruit crops in the
region, so the farmers are hurting, too.
News: Happy Acres jam is the best jam I have ever tasted, and a bargain
compared to American Spoon Foods -- http://www.happyacres.net/
Comment: I stocked up on their fantastic jams when I was at Glen's Market in
Charlevoix (Happy Acres jams are also available in the Detroit area.) My
favorite is cherry-rhubarb. At $3.49 for 16 ounces, it is very reasonably
priced. For example, American Spoon Foods, which also tastes very good,
usually goes for $5-$6 for 10 ounces.
News: Today may be the big day I pick up my new telescope.
Comment: My new ETX-125 may be ready at UPS. And, it might be clear tonight!
Truly nirvana for the amateur astronomer.
