News: DVD recorders for your TV will replace VHS -- http://makeashorterlink.com/?V24335441

Comment: The technology is still a bit too complicated, but this article explains the trend -- one DVD recorder will replace both your VHS deck and DVD player. You'll get recordings that are picture perfect but can be shared with your friends.

But hard drives are so cheap, I wonder why they don't just make a removable hard drive for the TiVo. Then, you could pull the unit out and connect it to any TV for playback.

News: Meanwhile, Sony has developed a TiVo for radio -- http://makeashorterlink.com/?W15922441

Comment: I never listen to commercial radio because the commercials drive me crazy. But there are lots of interviews on Chris Holman's show I'd like to hear if I could skip over the stupid commercial drivel. Maybe this device (when it gets cheaper) would be the thing to get.

News: A weekend of very good astronomy viewing.

Comment: After mostly cloudy skies last week, I had beautifully clear skies Saturday night and pretty clear skies Sunday night. I printed some star charts to help me zero in on dimmer, lesser known objects in Ophiuchus and Sagittarius. Scope continues to work fantastic. I just type in the NGC # for the objects and the scope slews right to it. Looking forward this week to some Moon viewing.
