Peter is very excited - we had a little downy woodpecker at one of our suet feeders this morning. In the birding world, a downy woodpecker sighting is pretty commonplace. But  Peter is new to bird feeding so he's pretty psyched. 1:10:39 PM    comment []

Oh boy Oh boy! The season's first termination dust!!!! Termination Dust is an Alaskan phrase for the year's first dusting of snow in the mountains. "Dust" because it is ususally a powdered sugar-like dusting. "Termination" because the dusting signals the "termination" of summer. I'm always very excited when termination dust appears - I am definitely in the minority. 1:05:20 PM    comment []
