Ohh my aching head!I have seriously screwed up my office laptop today. Caught a virus, and though I'm pretty sure I deleted it, the damnable thing corrupted all my personal settings in Win2K. I'm getting explorer.exe errors saying something-something-something could not be written to memoy every time I click "Start" or any folder/file on the desktop. I'm on a network and have two logins - one I use to access the network and the other for "personal" use with full administrative privileges. The latter is the one that's all screwed up, so I created a new user, thinking I'd just assign administrative privileges to it as well, but now it says I'm not authorized to do it. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr I HATE to call IS for help for lots of reasons, mainly because I don't like anyone else accessing my stuff. Soooo....I brought it home and asked Scott to work on it first. Maybe we can get things back to normal without having to involve anyone at work. Needless to say, it hasn't been a great day and I dread the thought of having to tell someone I've screwed up. How do I assign administrative privileges to myself as a user? When IS configured my laptop, I was given administrative privileges and told I could do anything with it that the IS people could. So WHY isn't it working???? Plus, Plus, PLUS the cat is bugging the hell out of me, she's clawed my leg, crawled all over the keyboard and I've already fed her TWICE. And, ON TOP OF ALL THAT, I found out today that starting Monday I'll have to start reporting to our new CEO instead of the Chief Operating Officer who I've been working with for the past 6 years. Well, that'll certainly be different to say the least.... Oh yeah, and on Monday? The Monday I'm to report to the head honcho? I can't even be there because it seems I've been called to JURY DUTY! I know I've been rambling, but please! someone tell me it's gonna get better... 6:46:12 PM comment []
