I got the bug...

The decorating bug, that is.  Diann at Heart of Dixie got me in the mood with all her talk about wallpaper borders.  Taking a look around my own house, I've decided to buy new curtains for the den.  I'm starting with valances from BedBath Store that are on sale.  These are the ones I chose (it'll take two for the window)....and I'll need panels or maybe sheers to go with them.  Hope they're as pretty when I get them as they are in the picture.  The sale price was just too good to pass up - 50% off.  Hey!  I actually saved money!

Saturday musings

Best thing about this diet:

I can eat bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs with cheese for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Worst thing about this diet:

I can't have pancakes and maple syrup on the side.

Day 13:  I've lost a total of 7 lbs. and Scott's lost at least 10 (maybe more).  We have not cheated.  Not once.  Came close.  Talked about banana splits for about an hour the other day.  Settled for sugar-free orange jello instead.  Since we're on low carbs/high protein, I've opted to snack on macodamia nuts when I get the craving for something crunchy.  But not too many, gotta watch those carbs.  I have to admit that I feel better these days.  I'm less fatigued and seem to be more alert - even in the afternoons (which is when I'm usually holding my eyelids up with a toothpick).  Cutting out the sugar and starch has definitely made a difference in my metabolism, and my body is in a state of ketosis now.  The Atkins diet isn't for everyone, but it seems to be working really well for me.  After Monday, we'll begin to add a few more carbs to our meal planning by including some fruit.  I never missed fruit so much in my life!  Can't wait to fit into some of my old clothes again (or maybe I'll buy some NEW clothes...yeahhhh).

Legal MP3 Downloads - Good list of free music that won't land you in jail.  I just finished downloading the acoustic version of Goodbye To You by Michelle Branch.
